Explore The Medieval Town Of Chauvigny

Located twenty minutes from Poitiers or the Futuroscope, the medieval city of Chauvigny is not to be missed. Listed a “Most Beautiful Detour in France” this city of art, with its spiky fortress towers, stands on a rocky outcrop that overlooks the Vienne River. Unique in Europe, five chateaux have coexisted here (Château Baronnial, Château d'Harcourt, Gouzon Dungeon, Flins Tower and Château de Montleon), giving Chauvigny an exceptional charm. A visit to this medieval city will seduce you with its rich architectural heritage. Stroll through the upper town to explore its charming, narrows streets and beautiful buildings such as the magnificent Collegiate Church of Saint-Pierre with its stunning sculpted balusters dating from the XII century, a testament to centuries gone by.

 Not to be missed:

  • A spectacle of birds flying free: the “Giants of the Sky” from April to September in the grounds of the Château des Evêques. Eagles, falcons, storks, and more provide a breathtaking spectacle of dizzying flight.
